Pantai Tanjung Aan or Tanjung Aan Beach has always been on a recommendation list when looking for the best beaches in Lombok, and not without reason. There are many ways you can spend your day at Tanjung Aan Beach. You can choose to relax or do one of several activities.
Surfing
For surfing at Tanjung Aan you can choose between left and right waves. They break over the reef in the middle of the bay. The best break is at the main teef, about 490 metres from the beach and some 350 metres from the famous Batu Payung.
Swimming
Both adults and kids can swim here. So bring your favorite bikini or swimwear. The waves are quiet and you can choose how deep you venture into the water.
Snorkeling
The clear water makes snorkel visibility ideal for this. You can rent both a boat to the perfect location and the snorkeling stuff.
Places near Tanjung Aan Beach
Batu payung beach is located right next to Tanjung Aan Beach. You can drive there yourself, or rent a boat. We recommend using a boat, because with it you will get extraordinary views during the 45 minutes round trip. It is most famous for the iconic rock, a large boulder resembling an "umbrella", hence its name ‘payung’. It's a great photo opportunity.
On the other side, you have Merese Hill or Bukit Merese. This is the hill that you can see from Tanjung Aan Beach. It is a bare hill, so there will only be a wide expanse of grass that makes for an unobstructed view from the top. From the parking lot you only need to walk about ten minutes to get to the top.
Tips for enjoying Tanjung Aan Beach to the fullest
It is important to bring cash. Almost all paid facilities require you to pay in cash. And don't forget to bargain a bit for prices that don't make sense.
Next, don't forget your sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. This beach has a wide coastline, but the only shadow is provided by the umbrellas. There are no trees for shade. So no natural hiding places from the bright sun.
