The 2023 Lombok MotoGP has finished with great success. Everything was an improvement compared to the previous edition. From the infrastructure and side events to the enthusiasm of the community. You could clearly see that this was not the first edition anymore. Therefore, we already look forward to the Lombok MotoGP of 2024.
Results of MotoGP 2023
The race held last weekend from 13 to 15 October, reached 102,929 spectators. That’s slightly more than the target of 100,000 spectators. Francesco Bagnaia, a Ducati rider, won first place after completing 27 laps in a record time of 41 minutes 20.293 seconds.
Bagnaia could retake his leadership position thanks to the fall of Jorge Martin. The 2nd and 3rd podium spots were claimed by Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
What we already know about the Lombok MotoGP of 2024
It is confirmed that the race will come back to Indonesia for the third year in a row. The Mandalika Circuit is once again listed on the provisional MotoGP 2024 Calendar. It will be the 17th race of the season during the weekend of 27 to 29 September.
This means that the Indonesian MotoGP 2024 is part of an Asian triple header schedule. The drivers have to be ready for three consecutive weeks. First heading for India, next Lombok, and finally Japan.
When you look at the improvements made, the next MotoGP in Lombok has a lot of expectations. It’s definitely going to be worth every rupiah you spend on it. So, it's time to prepare for the next event, Lombok MotoGP 2024!
Other events
Another recurring event is the WorldSBK or Superbike. The full schedule is yet to be released, but Lombok is already on the list of 2024 WSBK races.
Earlier this year, the Asian edition of the Shell Eco-Marathon was held at Mandalika. The organisation must be happy as they will return next year. The Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024 is to be hosted at the Pertamina Lombok International Street Circuit from 2 to 7 July 2024.
This will be a busy weekend since the MXGP or Motocross is scheduled to race in Lombok on 7 July 2024. They won’t use the Mandalika Circuit, but have their competition at Selaparang Circuit. This is one week after the racers visit the neighbouring island of Sumbawa.
Due to all these international events, the Indonesian government is considering to develop further in this field. There are plans to establish a Mandalika Racing Academy.
How the Indonesian MotoGP keeps improving
Meanwhile, in terms of improvements, Indonesia managed to successfully handle the problems that occurred during the previous events. This is a good projection for the 2024 Lombok MotoGP.
The Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation extended road infrastructure from 15 km to 35 km. Herewith they succeeded in reducing traffic congestions. Plus the parking area was expanded from a capacity of 5,000 vehicles to 37,500 vehicles.
Apart from the infrastructure, the side events also become more diverse. There are music concerts, automotive festivals and small local business markets. The government has communicated that thanks to all the praise, they started planning improvements for the Lombok MotoGP 2024.
Even if there are no improvements for the next Mandalika MotoGP 2024, and they maintain this year's achievements, this will still be very satisfying. The best praise came from Dorna Sport, expressed by the Chief Sporting Officer, Carlos Ezpeleta. He appreciated the changes that had occurred at the Mandalika Circuit.
He said that the Lombok MotoGP had overcome considerable challenges regarding the track and infrastructure. He compared it to last year’s edition of the Indonesian MotoGP 2022.

The first thing to do is to book suitable accommodation. Tickets are easy to get, and some hotels even offer packages that include them if you book close to the event date.
